After what felt like forever in the car we woke up this morning in Charlotte, N.C. looking forward to a relaxing hour at the MC3 Salon and Spa!
Thelma’s thoughts on her day at the spa…
I woke up this morning in our hotel just outside of Charlotte, NC having slept terribly. I then drove to the spa in a torrential downpour. I actually said to Louise that it was kind of fitting to have a bit of a stressful morning, since the rest of the trip leading up until then had been relatively stress-free and I might as well get the most out of my upcoming massage!
Stress-free? Apparently not!
We arrived at MC3 Salon and Spa located in the historic Dilworth neighborhood. We settled into the waiting room and filled out 
a form whilst watching an old rerun of Gilmore Girls. After a few moments we were lead into the semi-darkness for our separate massages. My masseuse was quick to point out that my entire back was riddled with knots. She inquired as to the source of all the stress and I reluctantly admitted that I am a bit of a stress-case. This, combined with my imminent move to a very foreign country and possibly all the time spent in the car recently, has apparently done a number on my back muscles. I hadn’t even noticed that they were worse than normal – I’m not sure what this says about me – possibly that I am in need of more frequent massages!
The masseuse also found random swollen parts and injuries in both of my legs. I’m a mess!
Having never had a massage before, I can’t make a comparison to tell you the quality of this one. I can, however, tell you that it was just as relaxing as I had hoped, and that the staff was very friendly and particularly interested in our road-trip, asking lots of questions and offering advice on upcoming destinations. It was a fun, new experience over-all!

I woke up early this morning eager to get on the road and super excited for my massage. After an ultimate Frisbee tumble last week and ages spent in the car, my entire back was in need of some TLC. We arrived at the spa and were greeted by four very friendly staff who all introduced themselves and inquired about our trip. After filing out a health form on very comfy couches, I was escorted downstairs into my room. I’m pretty sure I feel asleep 10min after my massage started! The combination of relaxing music and the ambience of the room instantly put me into a light sleep. I really appreciate a masseuse who doesn’t force you to chit chat during your massage!
I thought it was a great massage… the perfect amount of pressure.. a little bit of pain
with lots of gain! Plus my skin has been silky smooth all afternoon from the oils… just an added bonus! Overall a successful experience.
Following our relaxing hour it was time to hit the road again. Tune in August 16th for the next leg of our journey and our experience at Moksha Spa in Birmingham Alabama!!
