OMG – a Manicure That Lasts for 14 Days!

How many of you out there have gone to get a manicure and only moments after leaving the salon have reached for your keys and ruined it. BAM – barely out the door and your mani is already chipped or smudged. Do you sit there waiting ages for the polish to dry to ensure that your nails look great for that upcoming festivity and the next day signs of chipping are already appearing? Personally I can say an exasperated ‘yes’ to all of these things. Which is why I was so excited last night when my girlfriend told me about her incredible new find – The Shellac Hybrid Nail Color. “Check out my nails and I had my mani done 10 days ago!” she proclaimed. I immediately grabbed at her hand and inspected her nails – thick beautiful polish – not chipped and totally intact.

Shellac is a “hybrid” of nail polish and gel. It goes on like polish, wears flawlessly like a gel for 14 days and is off in minutes. A Shellac professional must remove the polish – the removal procedure takes about 10 minutes and no damage is done to the actual nail during the removal process. Depending on the salon a Shellac manicure can cost anywhere between $20-60.

I don’t know about you, but I will be trying out the shellac manicure for my next spa trip.

For TORONTONIANS this is now available at Ritual on King West.

I have yet to hear of any other spas/salons offering the Shellac manicure. I agree that the downside is having to return to have it removed, only because that increases the probability of getting another, and another…

Got something to say? Go for it!
